August 2010: Combat Troops Will Be Pulled Out of Iraq

As a campaign promise by Obama, all combat troops would be pulled out of Iraq within 13months of him being in office leaving 35,000-50,000 support troops over in Iraq, but now it is going to be 19 months before American combat troops are pulled out of there. For some people this is just a way to put down Obama as president just because he has to postpone pulling out the troops for 3 months and for others it is perfectly fine that the troops have 3 months longer in Iraq. It is mainly the military that is okay with staying there for the 3 extra months, because they want to finish or come closer to finishing their mission over in Iraq. Under an agreement the Bush administration signed last year with the Iraqi government, all US troops must be pulled out of Iraq by December 31, 2011. So even if Obama is unable to pull combat troops out in 2010, they will all be out by 2011.
